The NEC Native Education College is BC's largest private Aboriginal College, whose focus is to meet the needs of Aboriginal adult students to access employment or further post-secondary education.
The NEC's 2013 Open House tag line: Speak up, was developed in the early days of Idle no More, around the notion that education gives you a voice.
In a parallel campaign, a series of buttons were designed in collaboration with artist Jon Erickson, to be worn during marches and demonstrations, without directly promoting the school. They illustrate the Seven Sacred Laws in First Nations culture, embodied by animals: LOVE (Eagle) / WISDOM (Beaver) / TRUTH (Turtle) / COURAGE (Bear) / RESPECT (Buffalo) / HONESTY (Sasquatch) / HUMILITY (Wolf)
